World Toilet Day 2016: Toilets and jobs

Today, World Toilet Day is raising awareness to inspire action to reach the 2.4 billion people living in the world without a toilet. This year, World Toilet Day's theme is 'toilets and jobs' and is looking at how sanitation, or the lack of it, can impact on livelihoods in and out of the workplace.

The Sustainable Development Goals, launched in 2015, include a target to ensure everyone everywhere has access to toilets by 2030. This makes sanitation a global development priority. According to the World Health Organisation, 2.4 billion people are living in the world without improved sanitation.
