Resilience in focus in latest Innovation Hub

The Water UK Innovation Hub in June - Resilience: Environment, Investment and Customers - brought together water companies and key stakeholders to share ideas and experiences to inform new approaches to tackling resilience.

Peter Simpson, Chris Loughlin and Richard Flint, the chief executives from Anglian Water, South West Water and Yorkshire Water respectively, gave future-focused presentations and led delegates in dynamic discursive sessions covering cross-sector collaboration, findings from the Water UK/MWH Willingness to Pay research and the balancing of risk and resilience.

With Ofwat's new statutory duty for resilience, Chief Executive Cathryn Ross addressed delegates with clear messages: it was for companies, not Ofwat, to take responsibility for delivery of resilient services; and there would be no mandated single approach, no regulatory requirements and no setting of universal targets.

A report from the Innovation Hub will be available in August. Contact: Naomi Sterling for details.
