Household water and sewerage bills for 2016-17
The average household water and sewerage bill in England and Wales for 2016-17 will be £389 – an increase of £2 (less than 1%) compared with the previous year. The increase is in line with the 5-year plans developed by every water and sewerage company after extensive consultation with customers and confirmed by the industry regulator, Ofwat, in 2014.

Water UK submission to the Labour Party's consultation on 'Democratic Public Ownership'
Water UK has sent a submission to the Labour Party on their ‘Democratic Public Ownership’ consultation. The submission also examines the Labour Party’s ‘Clear Water’ proposals for nationalising the water and sewerage industry in England. Our view is that, if implemented, the proposals could seriously damage the provision and quality of water and sewerage services in England.

UK bathing water quality
The latest results for compliance to the European Bathing Water Directive by UK coastal and inland bathing waters show that:
• 95.4% of UK bathing waters met the minimum standard - that is 595 out of 624 bathing waters
• 60% of bathing waters met the Directive’s excellent standard
