Water UK response to Budget 2021

Responding to the 2020 Budget announcement, a Water UK spokesperson, said:

“We are pleased to see a continued commitment by the Chancellor in a greener economy and employment schemes to help build a country fit for the future.

“We have ambitious plans to be a net-zero industry by 2030, so unlocking innovation, finance and investment through the National Infrastructure Bank (NIB) is welcome news for the sector. However, we will understand more about how the NIB can help the country transition to a greener economy once details of its investment principles are published in the Spring.

“Building a greener economy also means investing in people, especially those hit hardest by the economic impact of Coronavirus. The extension to the funding for apprentices of any age, and the £126 million for high quality work placements, will help water companies invest in new skills and create more employment opportunities.”
