There’s an app for that – find free tap water on the go at over 30,000 places across the UK.
As bottled water is around 900 times more carbon intensive than tap water, the water industry is working with City to Sea on the Refill campaign, urging the UK public to ditch single-use plastic water bottles and switch to a reusable water bottle in order to cut down on plastic pollution.
Refill is the UK’s leading ‘app for tap’ – connecting people looking for water with shops, businesses, fountains and transport hubs where they can refill their water for free on-the-go.
There are now over 30,000 Refill Stations listed on the app in the UK, including large chains such as Morrisons, Costa Coffee and John Lewis.
The Refill app and campaign could save a billion plastic bottles by 2025 as Refill Stations are made available on every high street across the UK.
In addition, the sector has committed to preventing the equivalent of 4 billion plastic bottles ending up as waste by 2030 through the Public Interest Commitment.
