Thirst 4 Life in Surrey - derived from the initiative in Buckinghamshire – is a project that we have developed to raise awareness of the benefits of hydration and the dangers of dehydration.
The aim of Thirst 4 Life is to educate those working with older people in all environments so they are able to improve care and promote and maintain health and well being.
Some of our secondary aims for the project are to reduce A+E admissions due to dehydration or related conditions, reduce the need for avoidable professional involvement, reduce the amount of avoidable prescribed medications and to reduce the number falls among older people.
Maintaining hydration is essential to ensure we are able to function at our best both physically and mentally.
We hope to be able to improve health as a result of this project by providing information that will empower people to be able to make changes that influence their health and prevent disease.
