Since its foundation in 1876, The Royal Society for the Promotion of Health has brought together professionals with an interest in a safe and healthy water supply.
With its uniquely multi-disciplinary membership including health and safety professionals, engineers, environmental health officers, architects, planners and plumbers, the Society has a long tradition of involvement in advocacy of water issues as part of its public health mission.
Our founding fathers include: Joseph Bazalgette, who built London's sewage system; Edwin Chadwick, a pioneer of public sanitation; and William Farr, whose work on waterborne disease freed London forever from the curse of cholera.
