The Royal Society of Health (RSH) merged with the Royal Institute of Public Health (RIPH) on 1 October 2008 to become the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH).

The RSPH supports public health practitioners and lobbies for effective public health policy. Priorities include obesity, physical activity, climate change, and improved services for health promotion.

Over 100,000 individuals qualify annually with nationally approved qualifications ranging from food hygiene and pest control to health promotion. The new body continues to work closely with government, universities, charities, commercial companies and Water UK.
