The Royal Institute of Public Health is an independent organisation promoting public health and hygiene through education, training, communication and quality testing. We play an active role in developing public health strategy through our work with government departments and other key public health bodies.
The Royal Institute has a long history of being involved in water issues. Many of our members are water specialists, environmental health officers, communicable disease specialists and other health professionals interested in water issues.
We run at least one water related symposium each year; previous topics have included ‘Legionnaires’ Disease and Swimming Pools and Whirlpools’. In the autumn we will be holding a one day symposia on ‘Drinking Water Fluoridation: For and Against’.
We are actively involved in liaising and working with other organisations within the water profession including water companies, Water UK, the Institute of Plumbing and the John Snow Society, which has its home at the Royal Institute.
