The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) represents nurses and nursing, promotes excellence in practice and shapes health policies.
We are governed by our Council, and its members are guardians/trustees of the organisation's mission and values on behalf of the members. We are subject to trade union law, employment, health and safety, data protection, human rights and other laws, and Council is responsible for compliance with those laws.
The RCN lobbies governments and others to develop and implement policy that improves the quality of patient care, and builds on the importance of nurses, health care assistants and nursing students to health outcomes.
Provision of fresh drinking water is an important part of good health and nutrition, and can contribute positively to patient recovery. It is also important that members of the RCN are properly hydrated in their work environment and can get access to free, fresh drinking water.
