The campaign aimed at persuading people to drink water has developed into a 40-strong alliance of organisations working towards health through hydration.
It was five years ago that Water UK, backed by the water companies and supported by an advisory group, launched Water for Health. Organisations that shared the belief that drinking enough water was important for well-being joined forces to form the Water for Health Alliance.
Alliance members work to explain the benefits – among them improved alertness and concentration and fewer headaches – and share ideas for changing entrenched tastes and attitudes.
Today Alliance members each mount their own public health campaigns, drawing on independent research and other resources provided on the Water for Health website.
Five years down the line Water UK is delighted with developments but also keen to debate with some commentators who question the need to stay well-hydrated.
