Assist tariff application is made after the customer visits CAB (or similarly qualified agency) who will verify income and expenditure. See notes below.

WaterSure for those on certain income-related benefits and who either have three children under the age of 19 in full-time education and living in the property or use a lot of water due to a medical condition.

Notes

Restart is a debt write-off scheme used when customers are in debt and genuinely can't pay. It is designed to encourage better money management through an agreed payment plan:

 • In year 1 the customer pays the current year charges and Wessex Water write off an equivalent amount of their debt.
 • In year 2 the customer pays the current year charges and the remaining debt is written off.

Restart Plus is a debt write-off scheme for customers with exceptional circumstances who need more help to get back on track. Like Restart, the scheme follows a two-year payment plan but payments match what the customer can afford.

Assist is a Wessex Water tariff for customers in extreme financial difficulty. The customer pays a lower bill based on their financial circumstances and ability to pay. They must be in receipt of at least one of the main means-tested benefits and a Citizens Advice Bureau or other debt advice agency must apply for the tariff on their behalf. Assist can be used in conjunction with Restart and Restart Plus.
