Water companies in England and Wales published draft water resource management plans (WRMPs) for public consultation in 2008. The plans follow government legislation and guidelines, set by the Environment Agency, to ensure companies have sufficient water to supply the public and maintain adequate water in the environment. In England, companies have published statements of responses to the consultations to be considered by government ministers.
