This year will see developments to further protect water resources in Europe and help the water industry deliver sustainable water and wastewater services.
Future directives on Priority Substances and on the Sustainable Use of Pesticides, for which negotiations will end this year, should assist in tackling point source and diffuse pollution. The European Commission will also review the Drinking Water Directive.
Water UK calls for a proportionate approach which takes into account the benefits already delivered by the existing Drinking Water Directive and the innovative approach to water resources management of the Water Framework Directive.
