Response to Defra consultation on non-agricultural diffuse pollution in England and Wales

04/06/07

Non agricultural diffuse pollution affects the quality of water resources used for drinking water supply. Unless serious actions are taken to control the content of products and materials used the environment and climate change will continue to deteriorate.

Non agricultural diffuse pollution affects the quality of water resources used for drinking water supply. It also affects direct discharges into foul and surface water sewers and indirect discharges into the water environment. A major gap in addressing NADWP is measures and instruments to control household products and materials that contain substances that are deemed polluting to the water environment. Unless serious actions are taken to control the content of products and materials used the environment and climate change will continue to deteriorate.
