Water UK has responded to the European Commission's consultation on the environmental, economic and social impacts of the use of sewage sludge on land.
Water UK supports the principle outlined in the Waste Thematic Strategic and the long term vision to make Europe a recycling society that decouples economic growth from increased waste generation.
The revised Sludge Directive must facilitate and continue to encourage recycling of treated sewage sludge (biosolids) for use on land.
