The European Commission Directorate-General for Environment published a consultation in November 2011 on the water efficiency of buildings. This is part of the wider initiative to reduce pressure from water scarcity and drought by cutting water wastage.
The Water UK response to the DG Environment consultation supports the concepts and ideas in the stakeholder consultation but emphasises that while setting targets on the performance of buildings will save water, it is the people within them that use water and therefore measures targeting education and economic drivers should be taken into consideration.
