The pre-registration period for REACH started on Sunday 1 June 2008 and runs until December 2008.
REACH is the European Union Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It places responsibility on the industry to manage the risks that chemicals may pose to human health and the environment.
Water UK has produced a briefing note which advises how the regulation might affect the water industry.
Further guidance can be obtained from:
UK
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE), the UK’s authority for REACH. The HSE website sets out relevant information for registering.
Europe
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) based in Finland has been set up to deal with the registration, authorisation and provision of information on REACH.
