Proposal for a Council Directive on radioactivity in drinking water sources

The European Commission has proposed a Directive on Radioactivity in Drinking Water. Since the draft was put forward there have been a number of revisions proposed by the Presidency. It is expected that the latest draft will be debated in the European Parliament in November 2012 as part of a co-decision process with the European Commission.
The proposed Directive would implement the requirements for radioactivity monitoring that had not been fully specified in the Drinking Water Directive (Council Directive 98/83/EC) (DWD).
