Water UK's concerns about the Bill

12/01/10

Water UK welcomes the introduction of the Flood and Water Management Bill, but will be looking to amendments to provide clarity in some areas.

Water UK's concerns about the Bill:

 • The omission of a proposal on the provision of information and discharge of landlords’ liability for water charges

 • Sewerage issues (the right to connect to the public sewerage system, SUDS, sewer standards, transfer of private sewers)

 • The role of water companies in proposals for the provision of infrastructure

 • Definition of the 'community groups' who will benefit from concessionary charges

 • Hosepipe bans where the drafting is rather ambiguous in a number of areas.

Water UK has produced a memorandum for the Flood and Water Management Bill Committee outlining the industry's concerns about the Bill.
