Water UK welcomes the announcement of the Flood and Water Management Bill in the Queen's speech today, and looks forward to its publication when proposals can be examined in detail.
Legislation is urgently needed to implement the recommendations of the Pitt Review of the 2007 floods, and it was not always certain that this Bill would make it into the government's programme.
The challenge now is for the government to get the Bill onto the statute book before the general election.
