The Climate Change Bill
Water UK, on behalf of the water industry, has responded to the government’s consultation on the draft Climate Change Bill.
The water industry is a heavily regulated, energy-intensive industry, with statutory requirements to supply water and wastewater services and to meet stringent health and environmental quality standards.
Our response has flagged to Defra that it is essential that all new European environmental legislation and associated UK regulations, as well as existing legislation not fully implemented, be subject to a robust ‘carbon impact assessment’.
