Climate Change Act 2008

The Climate Change Bill was introduced into Parliament on 14 November 2007 and became law on 26 November 2008.

Water UK, on behalf of the water industry, responded (in June 2007) to the government’s consultation at the draft stage of the Climate Change Bill. This response is linked below.

Water UK, its member companies and the water industry research arm UKWIR have already completed a significant amount of work to ensure the water industry is well positioned to respond to the challenge of climate change. These include measures in carbon accounting, mitigation and adaptation as well as long-term planning for investment and management of assets and water resources.
