City Conference 2010 takes place at a pivotal time with the water industry facing up to the challenges of climate change, population growth, more demanding consumers, and increasing environmental regulation.
These factors, visible throughout the PR09 settlement, will be a decisive influence on water company revenues and investment plans. The final determinations maintain the sector’s stretching investment demand to 2015, with a total capex requirement of some £22 billion.
Pamela Taylor, Chief Executive, said:
"Working together, we must now need look beyond PR09 to the changes needed if we are to build on current achievements.
"After a period of extraordinary turbulence in the markets, investors continue to assess their options. The task of the industry and its regulators is to deliver a risk-reward balance that will support a sustainable sector.
"Water UK's City conference is the main financial event in the sector, attended by analysts, investors and institutions, together with the industry's leaders, regulators and government representatives.”
