Non agricultural diffuse water pollution – now affectionately known as ‘NADWUP’ – is a serious challenge.
It’s a challenge to sustainable water supply – because it’s costly and harms the environment. It’s a challenge to our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint as an industry and as a society. And it’s a challenge to one planet living – because it’s damaging a finite resource.
So business as usual is not an option. We’ve asked you here to help us find the right solutions. We want you to participate on behalf of your organisations and yourselves – you are the people with the experience we need.
I’d like to get things going, first by asking you to think about a bit of history; and then by saying a few words about the three questions for today. So first the history lesson......
