The Waterwise report Evidence Base for Large-scale Water Efficiency in Homes shows that it is possible to undertake large-scale retrofit of water efficiency devices which can deliver high yields at a cost that is comparable to supply-side options. It also highlights the challenges associated with such measures.
The past couple of years have seen a large amount of water efficiency activity by the water industry, including large-scale projects. Analysis of the associated data has been used to produce a set of scenarios for different water efficiency programmes and to provide a range of possible associated costs and yields.
The report builds upon work by UKWIR and represents the best available knowledge on water efficiency. It also points a way forward, with suggestions for improving the level of knowledge we have and recommendations of partnerships that might reduce costs and maximise installation rates.
