We might have mentioned this once or twice before, but there are a couple of things about promoting the more efficient use of water that are quite important. First, it involves people and their behaviour. Second, action that is shared is by far the most effective.
This means that no single organisation or sector can deliver alone. Efficiency measures are better when taken in partnership.
So it was not surprising to see both of these truths borne out at the annual Environment Agency water efficiency awards.
The range of short-listed entries was impressive, covering everything from cement works to NHS Trusts, to agriculture and housing associations. And most involved partnerships, including water companies and others.
Which just goes to show: when it comes to saving water and energy, we’re better together.
