Based on preliminary decisions for PR09, 2 million new meters will be installed in the next 5 years and metering will increase from 37% in 2009-10 to 49% in 2014-15 (56% in water-stressed areas).
Whether this is achievable or sufficient will be the focus of the Water UK metering symposium on 16 September.
Anna Walker, Chair of the independent Review of Charging and Metering, will deliver the keynote speech at this high level event, attracting stakeholders and senior figures across industry.
Anne McIntosh, Shadow Minister, Environment, Water and Waste, will present the Conservative Party vision for water resources management.
Jean Spencer, Director of Regulation and Executive Director, Anglian Water, will provide the industry perspective on future metering strategy and the possible impact on customers.
