Supporting a plethora of mosses on Exmoor, providing grouse with somewhere cool and boggy to live, or helping farmers use pesticides more efficiently and cost effectively - when it comes to catchment management the water industry has a good story to tell.
Catchment management can mean working with nature, allowing ecology to do the work of a treatment plant. But it can also mean working with our partners in the community, helping those who manage fields and farms to decide upon the best time to use fertilisers and weed inhibitors, meaning fewer chemicals end up in watercourses and less water treatment is needed.
The water industry will be developing and leading policy in this area with a view to engaging partners in the coming weeks and months.
