2007 - not marking time

10/01/07

The World Cup is done, the Ashes turned to dust. In 2007 Big Sport must be content with less dramatic fare. Water would happily settle for similar, especially in SE England.

In policy though we shall not be marking time. Wherever you look, steps are to be taken that will influence the sustainability of the service and the confidence of citizens, consumers and investors in the future.

Climate change is the sub-text to many issues. The depth of its effect on the sector is still unclear. Will it up-end all existing assumptions about asset management, water supply, levels of service, resource productivity? Or will the current volatile mix of science, business and politics produce agreed and integrated responses?

In this 'View from Water UK in 2007' our policy advisers highlight the events and dilemmas water companies and their partners face in the months ahead. We also wish you a happy and productive new year!
