City analysts - and other stakeholders - have been watching the industry closely in the past month, as companies announce their interim results for 2010-11.
This is the first indication of the industry's progress in implementing the PR09 package, and of how the price review outcome will impact investors.
While it is still very early in the new period to assess the prospects, two points will remain as true as in previous periods.
First, after two years of focus on the regulatory process, attention is now upon the companies, to deliver the improvements that customers and stakeholders want to see. Second, to do this, a continuing flow of investment will be required. Maintaining the confidence of investors is essential, and will continue to be a crucial responsibility of everyone involved with the sector.
