Gas shale extraction (see above) was among the issues explored by technical experts and European policy specialists at a meeting of Eureau this month.
Discussions focused broadly on the EU Blueprint for freshwater policy and CAP reform, and specifically on emerging pollutants (pharmaceuticals) in drinking water; shale gas extraction; the potential impacts of a proposed directive on radioactivity in drinking water; and the roll-out of water safety plans to small supplies across Europe.
