Responding to the consultation on the future of consumer organisations, the water industry has urged the government to confirm that the Consumer Council for Water will continue to represent water consumers in England and Wales – as recommended by the review led by David Gray.
The water industry is already starting to plan for the next price review, for which it is crucial that consumers’ views are fully taken into account, and wishes to engage effectively with consumer representatives. At the same time, CCWater needs to develop and adapt to meet future needs. Any remaining uncertainty over the future of CCWater is unhelpful.
