The water industry has taken a lead role in supporting the Get Ready For Winter initiative, co-ordinated by the Cabinet Office in England. Similar initiatives are going on in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The aim is to encourage homeowners, businesses and others to protect their health, their homes and the vulnerable this winter by following simple and practical advice from a wide range of government departments and agencies, voluntary organisations and industry bodies.
The water industry’s advice on the Directgov website covers how to avoid frozen pipes, what to do if a pipe freezes and what to do if a pipe bursts.
