Adaptation reporting essential to planning

27/07/09

Proposed powers under the 2008 Climate Change Act will require water companies and other organisations providing a public service to assess and address the risks from climate change to the delivery of their objectives. This is eminently sensible.

We know that the impacts of climate change will be far-reaching and potentially severe.

The water industry will continue to take the action necessary to maintain high-quality, reliable services for the future. Our regulators, the government and, most crucially, the public would expect nothing less.

That’s why the industry welcomes the reporting power and will be working to integrate this requirement into existing planning structures.
