Water UK has completed a piece of work on adaptation to climate change for use by member companies in asset management planning.
The guidance includes a practical checklist of climate change impacts, adaptation response options and a detailed list of assessed information sources.
Complementary research from UKWIR, Towards an Industry Adaptation Strategy, will be ready in the spring. This will provide a longer-term perspective and framework (to 2100) and will consider research gaps and needs.
These projects support the development of a 'one voice' approach to underpin work by individual companies on adaptation strategies that will also preserve (or improve) levels of service, effectively communicate the issues, risks and opportunities and, where necessary, influence the future development of regulation.
