Beyond PR09 - Financial stability and sustainability in the UK water industry
Chris Loughlin, Chief Executive, South West Water chaired the Water UK City Conference 2010. Held at the Cavendish Conference Centre, the day was a great success with over 130 delegates attending.

City Conference 2010 focused on issues beyond PR09 as the water industry faces up to delivering investment plans in the face of challenges such as climate change, population growth, more demanding consumers, and increasing environmental regulation.

Keynote speaker Huw Irranca-Davies MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State & Minister for Marine and Natural Environment explored 'Future Water - two years on' and announced a review of Ofwat.
Other speakers included Regina Finn, Chief Executive, Ofwat who explored future challenges facing the water sector; Mark Barnett, Fund Manager, Invesco Perpetual who commented on infrastructure investment; and Alan Sutherland, Chief Executive, Water Industry Commission for Scotland who presented on a competitive supplier market.

Other presentations included meeting future infrastructure investment needs, the economic outlook - a macro perspective, and prospects for innovation in debt financing; whilst panel members tackled:
• What changes are needed for the water sector to meet the challenges of the future?
• Keeping the sector financed long term
